using the dotnet snapcraft plugin on projects using dotnet core 2.1 or newer results in an error as follows:
The current .NET SDK does not support targeting .NET Core 2.1. Either target .NET Core 2.0 or lower, or use a version of the .NET SDK that supports .NET Core 2.1
dotnet core 2.1 was released in may last year, since then dotnet core 2.2 has also been released and dotnet core 3 is in preview.
snapcraft is a long way behind here.
