Current evaluation

Hardcoded LD_LIBRARY_PATH behavior was declared obsolete: a maintainer said in 2023 that it no longer applies to core22; discussion had moved to canonical/snapcraft#38.

Resolution: closed not a bug

Reason: Closed as obsolete for current snaps: on 2023-08-17, maintainer sergiusens commented that this was “no longer the case for core22.” No dedicated resolving PR is identified; the earlier discussion had moved to canonical/snapcraft#38.

Issue body

Hi, LD_LIBRARY_PATH currently includes triplet as computed at snap creation time, but it should rather be set at runtime on a per-architecture basis. In fact, a better approach would be to set a RPATH relative to the binary: $ORIGIN/../../lib/$PLATFORM, or something like that. Cheers,

qwen/qwen3.6-35b-a3b — — Closed without implementation. The suggestion to use RPATH instead of a hardcoded LD_LIBRARY_PATH was not adopted. The request remains abandoned.
qwen/qwen3.6-35b-a3b — — The suggestion to replace hardcoded LD_LIBRARY_PATH with runtime values or RPATH was closed without resolution. No discussion or implementation occurred, leaving the request abandoned.
