Current evaluation

Clean stopped automatically cleaning reverse dependencies and now requires dependents to be explicitly named. Fixed by merged PR ubuntu-core/snapcraft#436 in commit 1664c4165.

Resolution: closed resolved

Reason: The maintainer identified PR ubuntu-core/snapcraft#436 as the fix. Commit 1664c4165 changed the clean command so reverse-dependent parts are no longer cleaned implicitly.

Issue body

Right now the clean step automatically cleans reverse dependencies for the part specified. This is in contrast to the other steps, which require each part to be verbosely specified before building dependencies. The cleaning should be updated to error out, asking that all dependent steps be specified. This will keep the experience consistent.
