Current evaluation

Fixed by snapcore/snapcraft PR #1901 (commit 592206be6), which skips ELF inspection for missing files and prevents readelf failures on dangling links.

Resolution: closed resolved

Reason: Merged PR #1901 added an existence check before ELF inspection, resolving the missing libLLVM symlink failure. It was committed as 592206be6.

Issue body

With Rakesh we tried to build a dotnet snap using the latest snapcraft and it fails during prime with: FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/home/ubuntu/tmp/dotnet-hello/prime/usr/lib/llvm-3.8/lib/python2.7/site-packages/lldb/libLLVM-3.8.so.1' This is a dead link: $ ls -lah prime/usr/lib/llvm-3.8/lib/python2.7/site-packages/lldb/libLLVM-3.8.so.1 lrwxrwxrwx 3 ubuntu ubuntu 44 Jan 31 02:48 prime/usr/lib/llvm-3.8/lib/python2.7/site-packages/lldb/libLLVM-3.8.so.1 -> ../../../x86_64-linux-gnu/libLLVM-3.8.0.so.1 To reproduce, install snapcraft from edge, and run it on the dotnet-hello that we have in integration tests.

Date Model Scores Action Summary
stealth/space-bunny-alpha — closed resolved Fixed by snapcore/snapcraft PR #1901 (commit 592206be6), which skips ELF inspection for missing files and prevents readelf failures on dangling links.
stealth/space-bunny-alpha — closed resolved Fixed by merged snapcraft#1901 (commit 592206be6), which checks that a file exists before ELF parsing, avoiding failure on broken libLLVM symlinks while priming dotnet snaps.
stealth/space-bunny-alpha — closed stale Snapcraft edge left a broken libLLVM-3.8.so.1 symlink while priming dotnet snaps; the report was closed without a documented resolution after years of inactivity.
qwen/qwen3.6-35b-a3b — — Closed without resolution. The report detailed a dead symlink error during dotnet snap priming with snapcraft edge. Zero comments and an eight-year closure indicate the bug was abandoned.
qwen/qwen3.6-35b-a3b — — Closed without discussion. The readelf-related dead symlink issue causing snapcraft edge to fail building dotnet snaps during the prime step was resolved.
qwen/qwen3.6-35b-a3b — — Closed with no activity. Reported a broken symlink causing dotnet snap builds to fail during the prime stage. Likely abandoned or superseded by newer snapcraft versions that resolved the readelf and symlink handling.
qwen3.6-35b-a3b-mtp-q6 — — Closed without resolution. Snapcraft from edge failed building dotnet snaps during the prime step due to a dead symlink in the LLVM library, causing a FileNotFoundError. The issue was abandoned with no documented fix.
