Current evaluation

Reporter wants smaller export-login macaroon so it fits Travis env vars; maintainer reproduced the failure and confirmed it is a Travis limit, pointing to `travis env set`/`encrypt-file`. Idle since 2020.

Suggested action: close not a bug

Reason: Maintainer @~cjp256 reproduced the failure ('So I tried `travis encrypt`, and probably got the same error... data too large - consider using travis encrypt-file or travis env set') and concluded 'this looks like a limitation of Travis and how you're using it... I don't know we can offer a better solution other than to follow Travis' guidance.' The reporter's own follow-up ('Maybe it is possible to store permissions as a bit array?') would require a store/macaroon format change outside snapcraft, and received no response. Working alternatives are documented in docs/how-to/publishing/authenticate.rst (write to file, `export SNAPCRAFT_STORE_CREDENTIALS=$(cat ...)`, or `--acls`/`--snaps`/`--channels` scoping), so this is a usage/third-party-limit question rather than a snapcraft defect.

needs triage Untriaged report: export-login's encrypted macaron exceeds Travis's environment-variable size limit, blocking SNAP_TOKEN setup; no maintainer assessment is recorded.

close stale snapcraft export-login output (macaroon credentials) too large for Travis CI SNAP_TOKEN env variable. 6.7 years old, zero comments, no labels, no maintainer interaction. Travis CI for open source is defunct and snapcraft store integration has been rewritten since.
