Current evaluation

Closed as a snap config issue, not a Snapcraft bug: override-build runs after stage packages are pulled, so Steam's i386 enable came too late. Maintainer @cmatsuoka advised moving enable-i386 to override-pull.

Resolution: closed not a bug

Reason: Maintainer comment from ~cmatsuoka (2022-05-12) diagnosed the step ordering: Steam's stage packages are installed during the pull stage before enable-i386's override-build ran. The fix belongs in the steam-snap's recipes (move enable-i386 logic to override-pull, switch 'craftctl build' to 'craftctl default'), so no Snapcraft change was required.

  • Related To: canonical/snapcraft#2045 (confidence 60%)

The override-pull scriptlet that the maintainer recommended using was introduced upstream in #2045; it already existed in snapcraft 7.x, so no code fix was needed.
