Current evaluation

Fixed in Snapcraft 7.0.8 by restoring the promote command's required snap-name argument in PR #3807 (commit 727f39204).

Resolution: closed resolved

Reason: The maintainer confirmed the problem should be fixed in 7.0.8. Commit 727f39204, associated with PR #3807, added the missing snap-name argument.

Issue body

'snapcraft promote <snap> --from-channel=... --to-channel=...' used to work, but it doesn't any more with snapcraft 7.0.7 (at least): $ snapcraft version snapcraft 7.0.7 # try with no snaps $ snapcraft promote --from-channel edge --to-channel stable Usage: snapcraft promote [OPTIONS] <snap-name> Try 'snapcraft promote -h' for help. Error: Missing argument '<snap-name>'. # now add the snap name: $ snapcraft promote --from-channel=edge --to-channel=stable chocolate-doom-jdstrand Usage: snapcraft [options] command [args]... Try 'snapcraft promote -h' for help. Error: unrecognized arguments: chocolate-doom-jdstrand Note that the help doesn't list the snap name (perhaps an error in arg handling?): $ snapcraft promote -h Usage:     snapcraft promote [options] ... I've had to resort to using snapcraft.io to promote (I guess snapcraft release would work, but I like promote).
