Current evaluation

Added SNAPCRAFT_VERBOSITY_LEVEL for persistent default output verbosity in snapcraft#3958 (commit 010fd708d).

Resolution: closed resolved

Reason: PR #3958 implemented configurable default verbosity through SNAPCRAFT_VERBOSITY_LEVEL in commit 010fd708d, with validation and tests. A maintainer later confirmed the work was completed.

Issue body

Currently, Snapcraft 7 defaults to a very low verbosity level, which hides a lot of useful information while debugging or developing. This can be changed by passing the --verbose command line option, but this requires adding the flag each time or adding an alias (not ideal if the command/flag changes later). It would be great if the default level could be configurable, so that the --verbose flag can be omitted if the user always requires verbose output.
