Current evaluation

Legacy `snapcraft upload-metadata` rejected the positional snap-file argument, unlike `push-metadata`. Fixed by merged PR #3975 (commit d685a2314); current command accepts snap_file and is unit tested.

Suggested action: close resolved

Reason: The reported `Error: unrecognized arguments` was a parser-level failure in the legacy upload-metadata command, which at the time did not accept a positional snap-file. Commit d685a2314 ("cli: accept snap file in legacy upload-metadata command", PR #3975) added exactly that positional argument, and the current StoreUploadMetadataCommand in snapcraft/commands/upload.py defines a `snap_file` positional (lines 253-259) covered by passing unit tests (test_upload_metadata). The reporter's `push-metadata` command no longer exists in the codebase, confirming they hit the older broken legacy path.

Issue body

push-metadata works merlijn@howard:~/Projects/signal-desktop$ snapcraft push-metadata signal-desktop_5.57.0_amd64.snap Uploading metadata from 'signal-desktop_5.57.0_amd64.snap' The metadata has been uploaded upload-metadata doesn't work merlijn@howard:~/Projects/signal-desktop$ snapcraft upload-metadata signal-desktop_5.57.0_amd64.snap Usage: snapcraft [options] command [args]... Try 'snapcraft upload-metadata -h' for help. Error: unrecognized arguments: signal-desktop_5.57.0_amd64.snap I think a lot of people will use upload-metadata instead of push-metadata since upload-metadata is talked about in this blog post: https://snapcraft.io/blog/better-snap-metadata-handling-coming-your-way-soon
