Current evaluation

User reports third-party 'speedx' snap aborts on Ubuntu 22.04.1 with 'could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "wayland-egl"'; app-specific packaging bug, no snapcraft code implicated, unlabelled and unanswered.

Suggested action: close not a bug

Reason: The only place snapcraft sets QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland-egl is extensions/desktop/gnome/launcher-specific, whose own header says it 'is not used with the gnome extension for core22 and later, please see snapcraft-desktop-integration' — and the reporter is on Ubuntu 22.04.1 with a core22 snap, so that code path is not in play. The broken QT_QPA_PLATFORM value therefore originates in speedx's own snap/launcher (or its gnome-3-38 base), which is a separate publisher's packaging, and it is not a snapcraft defect. It is also effectively a support question ('Bug?') with no logs beyond the error line, no snapcraft-relevant reproducer, zero comments and no maintainer response, so nothing actionable remains for this repo.

Issue body

Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS. Ubuntu Software says that it is installed. But when I click on the Speedx icon in dash, nothing happens. When I use terminal, I get $ speedx This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "wayland-egl" in "". Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, xcb. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. Aborted (core dumped) I reinstalled the application with no success. I searched the internet for the above "failure" and tried the suggested fixes to no avail. Bug?

The launcher-specific script points there for core22-and-later Wayland/Qt env handling, i.e. where the desktop-launch replacement for this export lives; that project is where any generalized Qt platform handling would now be done.
