Current evaluation

Closed as out of scope: maintainer bepri (2025-12-01) attributed the missing Wayland display in Opera and LosslessCut snaps to those apps' own snap project files, not Snapcraft. No code fix made.

Resolution: closed not a bug

Reason: Maintainer @bepri closed the report after stating on 2025-12-01 that other Electron/Chromium snaps (Discord, VS Code, Slack) work fine under Wayland and that Snapcraft "has no control over those packages". The fault lies in the third-party Opera/LosslessCut snap packaging, so no Snapcraft PR or commit resolves it.

Issue body

### Check existing issues - [x] I've verified that this bug isn't described by any existing issues. ### Bug description The same bug on LossLessCut and Opera LossLessCut and Opera is possible open only via commands. `env -u WAYLAND_DISPLAY -u XDG_SESSION_TYPE losslesscut` `env -u WAYLAND_DISPLAY -u XDG_SESSION_TYPE opera` `opera --ozone-platform=x11` `losslesscut --ozone-platform=x11` The core issue appears to be that the Wayland display server is invisible to the Snap container, leading to immediate crashes upon launch. **Links about bug:** https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-workspace/+bug/2131173 https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/2131202 Bug report.
