Current evaluation

Zip source support merged via upstream PR ubuntu-core/snapcraft#523 (commit c9fe15076). Released in snapcraft 2.10 (yakkety/xenial SRU) and verified by elopio; bug marked verification-done.

Resolution: closed resolved

Reason: Upstream PR ubuntu-core/snapcraft#523 'Support zip files as source' (commit c9fe15076) added a zip source handler plus source-type override, referenced by sergiusens in the thread. The change shipped in snapcraft 2.10 and janitor recorded 'This bug was fixed in the package snapcraft - 2.10+16.10' (LP: #1577062), after which elopio confirmed the zip extracted correctly and verification was marked done.

Issue body

[Impact] * Snapcraft does not work with sources of type zip. This adds support for setting a zip file as a source and allowing to force file handler to be zip (through source-type). [Test Case] 1. Create a snapcraft project with a zip source. 2. Run `snapcraft pull`. 3. zip files should have been extracted in `parts/<part-name>/src` [Regression Potential] * Very low. This is a new feature orthogonal feature. Minimal risk of breaking uri detection for sources (tests should already cover this).
