snapcraft upload --release fails for registered snap
Metadata
Current evaluation
Upload succeeded after store registration/account access was confirmed; no Snapcraft code change was needed.
Resolution: closed not a bug
Reason: Snapcraft was authenticated to a different store account than the one owning the registered snap name. The reporter confirmed on 2022-04-04 that registration was confirmed and upload then worked; no fixing PR or commit was involved.

Issue body
On snapcraft.io the snap sispmctl is shown as registered for my account.
When I try to upload it I get a failure:
$ snapcraft upload --release beta *.snap
Preparing to upload 'sispmctl_4.9_amd64.snap'.
After uploading, the resulting snap revision will be released to 'beta' when it passes the Snap Store review.
Running the review tools before pushing this snap to the Snap Store.
You are required to register this snap before continuing. Refer to 'snapcraft help register' for more options.
Would you like to register 'sispmctl' with the Snap Store? [y/N]:
This snap is not registered. Register the snap and try again.
What am I missing?
Best regards
Heinrich

| #1664704 snapcraft release gives misleading error when revision does not exist | snapcraft (launchpad) | open | The legacy snapcraft release error wrongly advised registering an already-registered snap; that obsolete code path was removed in ffb164b7a, and current releases use craft-store. | |
| #1761488 snapcraft 2.39.2 failed to release a snap: snapcraft.storeapi.errors.StoreReleaseError: <exception str() failed> | snapcraft (launchpad) | closed | Root cause was Mozilla-side (passing a string instead of a list of channels to _store.push); Snapcraft's unprintable StoreReleaseError was fixed by commit ef350b47 and PR #2056 (merged as 1f90b2a9), shipped in 2.41. | |

By 2017 store login enforced the terms and namespace, so the error was no longer reachable. | |
| #1627865 Snapcraft errors when releasing a snap | snapcraft (launchpad) | closed | Resolved by improving snapcraft's error handling to check HTTP status codes before JSON decoding, alongside a fix for the underlying store race condition (bug #1610948). | |
