Remove the `snapcraftctl` compatibility wrapper
Metadata
Current evaluation
Closed as won't-fix by mr-cal: snapcraftctl wrapper must stay for core22/core24 to avoid breaking existing builds. Implementation PR #5774 was closed unmerged; #5983 (eaadefa01) only makes core26 error on snapcraftctl.
Resolution: closed not a bug
Reason: Maintainer mr-cal closed the issue on 2026-01-29 after deciding removal would break existing core22/core24 builds, so the compatibility wrapper is intentionally kept. The proposed PR #5774 was closed unmerged; removal was later scoped to core26 only by merged PR #5983 (commit eaadefa01), documented in docs/release-notes/snapcraft-9-0.rst ("Core22 and core24 aren't affected by this change").
